Palouse Falls Moon Rise
Image of the full moon rising over Palouse Falls in Washington. This was a 10 image panoramic stitched together in Lightroom. Due to the depth of the canyon, it is hard to bring all the different exposure levels together here. It was a little spooky standing on a ledge wide enough for two photographers, with a 100-foot drop a few inches in front of our tripods.

Steptoe View
Rolling wheat fields hide Highway 195 that runs through the town of Steptoe. Image captured from Steptoe Butte, Washington.

Whitman County Growers 3
The many layers of wheat fields fade in the distance as the sunset lights up the view.

Steptoe View 2
Sunrise image form Steptoe Butte in the Palouse. The light fills the eastern side of the rolling hills and leaves the other side in deep shadow.

Kestner Homestead Maple
I captured a sunburst just after the sunrise on a clear blue day in a rain forest. Image captured at the Kestner Homestead, near the Quinault Ranger Station. I used f/22 with a 9 blade aperture lens to create the 18 rays off the sun.

Palouse Raptor
I captured this image in late afternoon, above the rolling wheat fields. A Red-tailed Hawk hunts for dinner.

Red Alder Thicket
Intentional camera movement was used to create this image from a thicket of red alder trees along the Quinault River.

Lee Flat Sunset
Sunburst from the setting sun silhouettes a Joshua Tree on Lee Flat, Death Valley National Park. Later that evening jets from one of the military bases practiced night maneuvers overhead.

Seattle Blue Hour
Multiple image panoramic image of Seattle. The image shows where I-5 and I-90 come together south of downtown Seattle, as well as Qwest Field and the downtown Seattle skyline.

The Racetrack
I wrote about how the rocks move on the race track on my blog You can see the trail left by this rock stretching out behind it. Geology and natural occurrences like this are fascinating.

Mesquite Dunes 2
Abstract image of ripples in the sand on the Mesquite Dunes, Death Valley National Park.

Lake Crescent
Photograph of a lakeside bench at the Lake Crescent Lodge in the Olympic National Park, Washington. Intermittent rain showers filled the sky with dark clouds.

Aguereberry Point
We drove up to Aguereberry Point in Death Valley National Park just before sunset. This image was captured as the sun was lighting up the tops of the mountains. The image captures the view from 6,453 feet high at Aguereberry Point to Death Valley at 200 feet below sea level.

Mt Whitney through Lathe Arch
Image captured just before sunrise in the Alabama Hills, California. Lone Pine Peak, which Apple currently uses an image of for a screen saver, is visible under Lathe Arch.

Mobius Arch 2
Image of Lone Pine Peak framed by Mobius Arch as the clouds roll in after sunrise. Later that day there were 35 mph (56.33 km/h) winds that brought a skiff of snow.

Mobius Arch and Lone Pine Peak
This image of Mobius Arch frames Lone Pine Peak as the sunrise lights up the mountain and the clouds. A storm was working it's way over the Sierra Mountains and it would be snowing before the next morning.

Alpen Glow on Mt Whitney
Photograph captured at the Alabama Hills, California. The sun had risen enough to light up Lone Pine Peak and Mt Whitney along the eastern Sierra Mountains.

Mesquite Dunes 3
Morning light and blowing sand at Mesquite Dunes, Stovepipe Wells, Death Valley National Park. There were blustery winds the night before, which wiped out the footprints, on the Mesquite Dunes.

Lathe Arch Morning
This image captures the view of Lone Pine Peak and Mt Whitney, under Lathe Arch, before sunrise. The stars and Jupiter were still visible, before the sun came up.

Mesquite Dunes
The blowing sand had erased all of the footprints from the night before. The footprints in the distance were made that morning, by another photographer.

Kodachrome State Park
Golden hour light turns the sandstone red as the sun begins to set at Kodachrome State Park, Utah.

Grand Canyon Suset 2
