Alaska-Range-Sunrise-2
Sunrise in Alaska (golden hour), near the equinox, is close to a two hour event. Here in Oregon Sunrise happens in about half of that amount of time. The windblown snow and fiery sunrise created wonderful lines throughout the image. I enjoyed capturing this image, even if it was only 4 degrees Fahrenheit.

Alaska Range Sunrise 2
This picture was captured just before sunrise near Broad Pass on the Parks Highway, Alaska. The sun was lighting up Denali, but had not quite reached the foothills of the Alaska Range. The blue sky and pink clouds reflected a purple color on the snow covering the mountains.

Wickersham Aurora
This picture of the northern lights was captured from the Wickersham Dome Trail. Wickersham Dome is northwest of Fairbanks, Alaska. With almost a full moon shining on the snow, and the Northern Lights glowing, a 5-second exposure was enough to capture this image.

Denali Pano 2
Happily the clouds unveiled both North and South Denali for this sunrise photo. The weather forecast was correct, which was a good thing, since we left from Fairbanks, Alaska at midnight to get here in time for sunrise.

Denali Pano 1
We were in Fairbanks, Alaska watching and shooting the northern lights. I kept watching the weather forecast for Denali, hoping to have a clear day. The forecast looked good, so we left Fairbanks at midnight and drove down the Parks Highway. Both North and South Denali are visible in this sunrise picture.
