Fine Art Nature and Landscape Images from Central and Eastern Oregon
From the High Desert to the Great Basin there are a lot of natural wonders in Central and Eastern Oregon. One of those places are the Painted Hills, with colors made from natural minerals and deposits. The Great Basin, is a land covered with sage brush and juniper, that receives only about 5 inches of rain, in some spots, yearly.
Central and Eastern Oregon have always had a certain appeal to me. The smell of juniper and sagebrush is a refreshing jolt when you are traveling east of the Cascade Mountains. If you are interested in purchasing any of the fine art images on this page, please contact me with the print style, size and image name.

Painted Hills Rainbow
I had just driven back up to the Painted Hills after dinner, as it started to rain. I was taking pictures when I lifted my head away from the viewfinder and noticed the rainbow. I backed off the CPL so that the rainbow showed up and fired away.

Painted Hills
This image captures the sunset light as it warms up the Painted Hills. The three juniper trees on the hill to the right give a sense of scale to the hills.

McKenzie Pass Sunrise
This image was captured at 4:30 in the morning, before sunrise. The orange glow on the horizon was a precursor to the fireworks later on this July 4th day.

Painted Hills 5
This image was captured as the weather started to clear after a rain storm moved through. Picture of the Painted Hills near Mitchell, Oregon.

Painted Hills Rainstorm
This image was captured in late May at the Painted Hills unit of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. I was eating dinner at the small park near the entrance when the first rain drops hit. I rushed to the pick up and drove up the hill to start taking pictures.
